[the approximate ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter as calculated by Zu Chong Zhi][数]∶南北朝时祖冲之算出圆周率的近似值在3.1415926和3.1415927之间,并指出圆周率的约率为22/7,密率为355/113。为了纪念祖冲之,把他算出的近似值叫做祖率

指我国 南朝 时数学家 祖冲之 计算出来的圆周率的近似值，密率为355/113。《文汇报》1983.12.9：“ 祖冲之 把圆周率的数值推算到小数点后七位数，这在全世界是第一人。 日本 数学家曾建议把密率355/113称为‘祖率’，来纪念这位 中国 的大数学家。”
